Yishai is the fourth son of Naomi and Zalman Gaster. Both parents descended from long lineages of European Jews who arrived in Israel in the beginning of the 1900’s as refugees surviving the European atrocities and persecutions while at the same time fulfilling ancient dreams of their ancestors.

Yishai’s parents are amongst the founders of Kibbutz Amiad, a communal farming community, situated in the Upper Galilee, which is where he grew up.

After serving his obligatory military service, he went on to theater studies and was involved in the field for several years, as an actor, director and playwright.

In 1986, he moved to Britain and continued as an amateur in theater while working in various fields.

In 1989, he was invited to a theatrical project in Tokyo, where he stayed for about a year.

He then returned to Britain and joined Columbia Marketing book company, where he was promoted to GM and served in this position for about ten years.

At the same time, in 1992, he left the theater field and began studying psychotherapy at the Chiron Center for Body and Integrative Psychotherapy in London, upon completion of which he was accepted as a full member of the UKCP, the British Council for Psychotherapy.

In parallel with managing the company, Yishai had an active individual Psychotherapy clinic and led therapeutic groups for several years.

In 1996, Bert Hellinger came to London to present his work with Family Constellations. The impression was very deep and he immediately began to study the method in depth and apply it in his clinical work, in group facilitation and in intensive workshops. Yishai also studied Family Constellation with Dr. Albrecht Mahr, and organizational constellation with Jan Jakob Stam.

In 1998, he married Ruth Segalis, a choreographer and dancer by profession, Yishai and Ruth have three sons – AlonAmir and Uri.

In 2005, after about 19 years abroad, he returned with his family to Israel and settled in Rosh Pina, close to the landscapes of his childhood. In 2006, he founded the Institute for Systemic Constellations Studies in Israel (ISSCI) which later became The Constellations Path.

Between 2016 and 2019, he lived with his family in Sunnyvale, California, continuing to develop the Constellations work in the US parallel with its development in Israel, and in the summer of 2019, he returned to Israel with his family, residing now in Kibbutz Lehavot HaBashan, a small rural community situated in the very northern part of Israel.

As of 2026, The Constellations Path, led by Yishai and a selected council, has about 26 team and faculty, teaching the path of Systemic Constellations in Israel and internationally, with between 150-250 trainees a year.

To my parents and ancestors, close and distant, who’s experiences I hold deeply and who are my support and inspiration for all that I am and I do.

To my wife Ruth, for traveling the path together with all its challenges and the loving family that was born out of our togetherness.

To all my teachers, each of which has contributed so much to who I am as a teacher and how I pass on what has been given to me.

To ‘Family and Systemic Constellations’ for appearing on my path at the right time and giving me direction and a purpose.

And to all who have touched my life on the way, I remember you all and carry our togetherness wherever I go.
